Little Red Riding Hood /
Crvenkapica

The story of Little Red Riding Hood, written by the Brothers Grimm two
centuries ago, is still one of the most famous stories, which lesson is
no less relevant: seemingly nicer, but no less dangerous wolves, skilled
“snake oil salesmen” have changed their looks, but not their temper. |

Priča o Crvenkapici, iznikla iz pera Jakoba i Wilhelma Grimma prije
dalje aktualna: naizgled simpatičniji, no ništa manje opasni vukovi,

Little Red Riding
Hood is one of the first stories we tell our children and grandchildren
in order to prepare them for the dangers that lurk when they step out
of their innocent children’s world into the world of adults. The wolf is
the archetype of someone who is dangerous, cunning and has no good
intentions towards the weak and weaker than himself. Today’s children
have only seen the real wolf in the zoo or on the TV screen, so they
don’t perceive it as a real danger in its original, animal form. That’s
why I modernized the wolf, just like Little Red Riding Hood, and moved
it into a context that is closer to modern kids. |

Little
Red Riding Hood is a girl with a rather androgynous appearance: in
jeans, a hooded top and Chuck Taylors, riding a skate and a bicycle, so
even boys can identify with her to a certain extent. The wolf is polite,
tidy, drives a good car, that is, at first glance he does not seem like
a typical villain, which is the best way to fool children and the
elderly. But the wolf is also excessively proud, in fact, he is so full
of himself that he often does not fit into the frame, his eyes are
hidden behind sunglasses even in the shade, he drives along forest paths
in a jeep, not caring at all about the vegetation. He smokes
constantly, and everything he says is symbolically shrouded in cigarette
smoke, suggesting a shady character. He even appears on the front cover
as a cloud of smoke. |

Crvenkapica
određenoj mjeri poistovjetiti i dječaci.
djecu i starije.
