EN Tomislav Torjanac (pronounced Tor-yahnutz) is a Croatian llustrator and painter, who works mostly in oil paints combined with digital medium. His creative process is very physical in the paint handling and is characterized by rich impastos.
In 2006 Torjanac won the international competition to illustrate a new edition of Yann Martel's 2002 Man Booker Prize-winning novel Life of Pi. The competition was run by Scottish publisher Canongate Books, UK newspaper The Times, Australian newspaper The Age and Canadian newspaper The Globe and Mail. The illustrated edition was published by Canongate in September 2007. It won first prize at the British Book Design and Production Awards 2008 in the Limited Edition / Fine Binding category.
  HR Tomislav Torjanac hrvatski je ilustrator i slikar, koji najčešće slika uljenim bojama u kombinaciji s digitalnom tehnikom. Njegov je stvaralački proces vrlo fizički u baratanju bojom i odlikuju ga bogati nanosi boje.
Godine 2006. Torjanac je pobijedio na međunarodnom natječaju za ilustriranje romana Pijev život Yanna Martela, dobitnika nagrade Man Booker za 2002. godinu. Natječaj su zajednički raspisali škotski nakladnik Canongate Books, britanske novine The Times, australske novine The Age i kanadske novine The Globe and Mail.
Ilustrirano izdanje objavio je Canongate Books u rujnu 2007. godine. To je izdanje nagrađeno prvom nagradom na “British Book Design and Production Awards 2008” u kategoriji “Limited Edition / Fine Binding”.

Torjanac also illustrated several picture books, including James Joyce's The Cat and the Devil.
He participated in a number of group exhibitions in Croatia and abroad, and had solo shows in London, Zagreb, Pula and Ljubljana. He also held many lectures and presentations in 14 US cities, in London and throughout Croatia. His artwork was included in Spectrum: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art illustration annual.
In Croatia, Torjanac has been awarded for his work with two Kiklop literary awards, two Lice knjige illustration awards and two Grigor Vitez awards for the best illustrated children's book.
In 2012 he was awarded the Grand Prix at the Fourth Croatian Biennial of Illustration, and in 2015 the Porin music award for the best recording package (Mamut by Urban&4).
  Torjanac je također ilustrirao nekoliko slikovnica, uključujući Mačka i vraga Jamesa Joycea.
Izlagao je na brojnim skupnim izložbama u Hrvatskoj i inozemstvu te samostalno u Londonu, Zagrebu, Puli i Ljubljani. Održao je i veliki broj predavanja i predstavljanja: u 14 gradova SAD-a, u Londonu te diljem Hrvatske. Radovi su mu uvršteni u američki ilustratorski godišnjak Spectrum: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art.
Za svoj je rad Torjanac u Hrvatskoj nagrađen s dvije nagrade Kiklop, dvije nagrade Lice knjige te dvije nagrade Grigor Vitez.
Godine 2012. dodijeljena mu je Velika nagrada (Grand Prix) na Četvrtomu hrvatskome biennalu ilustracije u Klovićevim dvorima, a godine 2015. glazbena nagrada Porin za najbolje likovno oblikovanje albuma (Urban&4 – Mamut).
